I’ve come to the conclusion that you can never have too many lights. There are always a few that are dead, or you can’t find your favorite right when you need it. So I own several stashed around my house, including the Lepro 200LM LED Lantern. I’ve regularly used it around the house and on a few camping trips. It’s a solid lantern, but as you keep reading this Lepro 2000LM LED Camping Lantern Review, you’ll discover why it’s not my go-to for camping.

Test Methods & Conditions
To test this lantern, I’ve had it sitting on my nightstand (in case of power outages) and in my office (to brighten the space for videos) for the last several months. I’ve also packed it on some camping trips, where it doubles as a lantern and a phone charger.
First Impressions
When I first opened the lantern, I thought it looked a little too delicate and fancy for camping, but I was willing to give it a try. Especially after seeing how bright it is and since it doubles as a battery bank. Figuring out how to operate it was quick and simple, as was charging it.

Performance in the Field
I’ve found the Lepro LED Camping Lantern very useful both at camp and at home. It’s bright enough to help lighten a room, even during the day. Our kitchen sink was leaking the other day, and I was able to set this lantern in the cabinet and easily see where it was coming from. It made fixing the leak much easier.
I appreciate the multi-brightness and color options because at night the brightest mode is often too bright. Being able to dim the light or use red light mode helps me see in the dark around camp or let my fellow campers sleep while I use the light to find something.
While the light is great, I’ve used it mostly to recharge my phone. I love that the internal battery doubles as a power bank. So on camping trips when I don’t have a way to charge my phone, I don’t have to worry about it dying on the first night.
The small carry handle is okay; it allows for it to be tied to something with rope or held while walking. I really like that it lays flat and doesn’t get in the way when it’s not needed. However, it’s just a rounded piece of metal, nothing fancy.
Speaking of fancy, the Lepro LED Lantern is a little fancy for my camping style. It doesn’t appear to be really rugged (but more on that in a bit). It definitely has more of a glamping vibe, not the rugged backcountry camping vibe I like to go for.

Durability & Build Quality
So far, I haven’t broken the Lepro Lantern, but it definitely doesn’t feel indestructible. It’s primarily made from plastic, so you have to be mindful while packing it and the rest of your heavy gear.

Usability
The Lepro 2000LM LED Camping Lantern is very easy to use. It only has one button, so you don’t have to worry about memorizing what buttons do what. Press it once to turn on the light; keep pressing the button to cycle through the modes, or press and hold to dim the light. Charging it and using it as a battery bank are as simple as plugging in your USB-C or USB cable. I really don’t know how they could have made it easier to use.

Who It’s For / Who Should Skip It
This is a great lantern to have around the house when the power goes out and for glampers. It’s small and packs nicely, but it’s just not durable or compact enough for backpack camping. I can definitely see myself using it while RVing, car camping, and even tent camping at a campground. I wouldn’t hesitate to keep it in my vehicle to use, in case I break down at night. It has a red flashing mode that would help alert other cars of your presence. But if you’re trying to maximize every ounce and inch of space in your pack, this probably isn’t the lantern you need.
Value & Price-to-Performance
At $37, this lantern is a great deal. It lights up most spaces very well; it’s versatile, and if it breaks, you’re not losing that much money. I currently own two and wouldn’t hesitate to buy another for our family vehicle or my kids’ rooms.

The Lepro 2000LM LED Camping Lantern is an excellent rechargeable light source. I love that it has an internal battery, or you can add 6 AA batteries to it so you never run out of power. It’s easy to use and produces enough light for any camping activity. I’ve been very impressed with this inexpensive lantern, and it honestly surprised me after I first saw it.
